NALCOMA calls for healthy competition as 2024/2025 season begins
As the 2024/2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) season continues this weekend, the Nigeria National League Club Owners and Managers Association (NALCOMA) has charged all 36 clubs to operate in accordance with the rules, and embrace sportsmanship.
The season kicked-off last weekend, with the opening match between Abakaliki FC and Madiba FC, which sets the tone for what to expect throughout the season, as clubs jostle for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) tickets from the four Divisions in the two Conferences.
The supplementary Matchday One encounters will this weekend, hold in different centres across the country, in the League termed, 'Most Important League'
According to the President of NALCOMA, Godwin Enakhena, activities and displays by the clubs from the beginning to the end of the season must reflect the importance attached to the system, to give credence to the second cadre League in the country.
While commending the NNL Board on various measures put in place so far, towards having a hitch-free League, which includes but not limited to the seminar for Coaches and Media Officers, as well as the partnership with Sofascore, Enakhena tasked the League Organising body to monitor compliance, so as to achieve a successful season.
The Sofascore deal will allow the company to download NNL matches, players, results, and statistics on its official website for its millions of users worldwide, as well as, in their soft care editor app, which allows local tournaments to be visible to Sofascore, a move which Enakhena said, was commendable.
"The standard set during the first match of the season between Abakaliki FC and Madiba FC in terms of officiating and adequate monitoring must be sustained.
"We have come a long way, after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Bauchi, to ensure a level playing ground for all teams, which included the adjustment done in the arrangement of teams in the conferences.
"I will want to commend the NNL Board and the clubs, and by extension, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the grounds covered so far, hoping that other stakeholders will play their roles effectively for the betterment of all.
