Ochonogor targets big jump at the CAA Region 2 Championship in Accra
Nigeria's Long jump amazon, Prestina Oluchi Ochonogor, is hoping to have a big jump that would launch her into the world Athletics bracket of big guns.
Ochonogor is returning to the same arena where she picked an African Games bronze medal in March to compete at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.
At the Games, she made her international debut, Ochonogor had a Personal Best leap of 6.67m that was good enough for a bronze medal.
Her fellow teammate Ese Brume won gold with a leap of 6.92m ahead of Burkina Faso's Jasmine Koala Marte, the lady from Ouagadougou jumped 6.81m to take the silver medal in Accra.
Ochonogor will have a field day at the CAA Region 2 Championship, where she competes on Wednesday. Brume and Marte are not in the Ghanaian capital for the event.
"I'm here to do my thing, I don't know about who is here or who is not. I usually don't bother about names, but compete with the zeal to win always," said the former junior athlete.
Athletics officials in Nigeria strongly believe that Ochonogor has what it takes to rule the sport in no distance time with her built and reach.
They hope that she can reach world status and dominate for a long time.
