Sportstech, NCF Cricket Lab set for commissioning on Sunday Akanimo Kufre An indoor cricket facility called the 'Cricket Lab' is ready for commissioning on Sunday 3rd March 2024 at the TBS Oval by the President of Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Mr. Uyi Akpata alongside top cricket associates and sports administrators.

This information was disclosed to the public during our correspondent interaction with Mr Ngozi Ogbogu, a Board Member of Sportstech Innovation Limited.

Sporstech is a private concern that partners with NCF to complement the cricket sports expansion in Nigeria through facility development.

The indoor sports facility is modeled after a similar cricket facility at the Lords Cricket Oval in the UK. The primary function of the facility is to enable cricket practice at night and day, during heavy rainy weather without the usual interference by nature.

"We were inspired by the drive to see young cricket talents grow with the help of this facility. That is one of the reasons we committed our resources to cricket. It is a perfect thing to do and the standards are UK-inspired. "We are looking at schools, academies, and individual practice sessions. We want this facility to be a place where cricketers are happy to have. A place to raise young stars and parents are encouraged to register their children." Mr. Ogbogu explained. The facility also provides lounge services, a Sports cafe, coffee, food and changing rooms. Other provisions at the Cricket Lab include a Bowling Machine, Video Analysis, and a balcony view over TBS Oval. Mr. Ogbogu also mentioned that the cricket Lab will offer members of the public a hang-out spot while waiting for Lagos traffic to ease off.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Yellow Green Head Coach, Steve Tikolo valued and applauded the project construction as timely for the current pace of Nigeria's cricket progress.

"It is of immense value. I can tell you for free. It is good to have a facility like this because it allows you and your team to train whenever you want to train. You can train when it is raining and when you do not have your players in the daytime because of work or school commitments." "It is of immense value. I can tell you for free.
